Privacy policy

Printer's Friend (we, us, our) runs a software platform for apparel print shops. This policy explains what data we hold about you, why, who we share it with, and how long we keep it. It applies to anyone visiting printersfriend.com or using the platform.
Who is the data controller
Printer's Friend Pty Ltd, ABN 22 555 444 333, registered at 1 Marrickville Road, Marrickville NSW 2204, Australia. For data subject requests, email privacy@printersfriend.com. For shop operators using the platform with their own customers, the shop is the controller of customer data and Printer's Friend is the processor.
What we collect
If you visit the marketing site
- Page views, browser type, country (from IP), and referrer, via Plausible Analytics. Anonymised and aggregated. Stored for 24 months.
- If you accept marketing cookies: campaign source for attribution.
If you book a demo or fill in a form
- Your name, email, phone, shop name, country, decoration methods, and the message you send us.
- We use this to contact you about your demo and, if you become a customer, to set up your account.
If you use the platform
- Account data: name, email, password hash, role, last sign in.
- Business data: customers, quotes, orders, artwork, invoices, stock, comms history. This belongs to you. We process it on your behalf.
- Usage telemetry: which features you use and when. Aggregated and de-identified within 90 days.
Why we collect it
- To run the service. You can't have an account without the bits that make accounts work.
- To communicate with you. Service updates, billing emails, security notifications. Marketing emails only with your consent.
- To improve the product. Aggregated usage data tells us which features earn their keep.
- To meet legal obligations. Tax records, fraud prevention, lawful access requests.
Who we share it with
We share data with the smallest possible set of subprocessors needed to run the platform. Current list:
- Amazon Web Services (Sydney, Virginia, Frankfurt): hosting and storage.
- Stripe (Dublin, San Francisco): payment processing if you use Stripe checkout.
- Postmark (USA): transactional email delivery.
- Twilio (USA): SMS delivery if you enable SMS automations.
- Anthropic (USA): AI assistant queries if you enable Demi.
- Plausible (EU): anonymised website analytics.
We never sell your data. We never share it with advertisers.
How long we keep it
- Marketing site analytics: 24 months.
- Demo requests that don't convert: 12 months.
- Active account data: for as long as the account is active.
- Cancelled accounts: 30 days recoverable, then permanent deletion. Earlier on request.
- Backups: rolling 35 days.
- Tax records: 7 years as required by Australian law.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act, the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the CCPA, you have the right to access, correct, port, restrict and delete your data. Email privacy@printersfriend.com and we'll respond within 30 days, usually much sooner.
International transfers
Where data crosses borders (e.g. AWS US East), we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent safeguards under the Australian Privacy Principles.
Security
TLS 1.3 in transit. AES-256 at rest. SOC 2 Type II audited yearly. We don't store payment card data, Stripe handles that. Detailed in our security overview.
Children
Printer's Friend is a B2B platform. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
We'll email account holders 30 days before any material change. The current version is always at this URL. Material changes affecting customer data will also surface as an in-product banner.
Complaints
Email privacy@printersfriend.com first. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au), the UK ICO (ico.org.uk), or your local data protection authority.
